Board Meeting
Board members present: Amanda Taft, Deborah Gallagher, Ellen Franke, Toby Pennell,
Mia Taft
Call to Order: Amanda called the meeting to order at 4:24. Twenty-three members (besides the board members) were present and Amanda introduced the board members.
Minutes: Amanda reviewed the events of the last 6 months. We have started an eBay account to market some of our more valuable donations. We are using paper bags for our book sales now. Donations of foreign language books and dictionaries (176 books and 11 DVDs) were made to the Language Department at Manor HS. Mr. Joseph Yancey and Ms. Tamara Pitt came and picked them up from the Main Library book sale area. Large print books have been donated to Autumn Care nursing home and The Senior Station, both in Portsmouth.
Correspondence: None
Financial Report by Treasurer: The Operating Account has $47,063.60 as of 4/22/2022. The Copier Account has $14,592.92 as of 4/22/2022. The CD Account has $27,152.47.
Unfinished Business: Amanda reported we are always looking for new ways to give back to the community and are open to member ideas. Ellen and Amanda discussed the copier account amount and that we plan on canceling our current contract. Hopefully we can find another smaller company to manage the copier maintenance because the current one is so expensive, we will run out of money for that account.
New Business: Mia has designed a new FOPPL logo. Stickers with the new logo were handed out to all the members present. The members were reminded that this October is our election month and to consider serving on the board.
Library Director’s Report: Todd Eliot was not able to attend so Amanda will get his comments from him so they will be available to members. He came in after the meeting was adjourned and casually spoke to the members that were left.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:45. The members continued to enjoy the food and conversations with each other.
